ESGLD Workshop 2026

What a fantastic 26th ESGLD workshop in Rotterdam!

Three inspiring days of outstanding science, lively discussions and wonderful encounters with the European lysosome community have come to an end! A huge thank you to our local organisers in Rotterdam for organising such a successful meeting and for hosting us at a fantastic venue with exceptional vegetarian food. We also enjoyed an unforgettable – and at times rather wobbly! – boat trip through beautiful Rotterdam.

More than 90 participants, predominantly early-career researchers, from laboratories across Europe came together to share their passion for lysosome research. The scientific programme was of the highest quality and featured exciting, previously unpublished data that highlighted the strength, creativity and vitality of lysosome research in Europe. Congratulations also to the poster award winner, Pathma Muthukottiappan from the University of Essen, Germany.

This meeting also marked an important step in our new strategy to make ESGLD meetings more sustainable, as excellent science and responsible meeting organisation should go hand in hand. And this is just the beginning! ESGLD will continue to promote exchange and collaboration between laboratories across Europe – through webinars, regular laboratory progress meetings and our next workshop in two years’ time. And there’s a very special reason to look forward to that meeting: we’ll be celebrating 50 years of ESGLD!

Thank you to everyone who helped make Rotterdam such a success. Until we meet again! Stay tuned for what’s coming next!
