The ESGLD Chairman and Scientific Committee are happy to announce the third in a series of LD focussed bi-monthly seminars. This time we are delighted to have Prof. Tony Futerman, Professor of Biochemistry at the Weizmann Institute of Science as our eminent presenter.
Prof. Tim Cox, University of Cambridge, will introduce Prof. Futerman and his talk entitled ‘Beauty and the beast: sphingolipids in health and disease’

Professor Tony Futerman
Tony Futerman is a Professor of Biochemistry in the Department of Biomolecular Sciences in the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel, where he studies the roles of sphingolipids in health and disease. His work focuses on the mechanisms of regulation of sphingolipid synthesis, and on how neuronal cell pathological is affected upon accumulation of sphingolipids in LSDs, particularly in neuronal forms of Gaucher disease. He has chaired two Gordon conferences including the first GRC on Lysosomal diseases in 2011.
