Prof. Tim Cox, University of Cambridge, will introduce Prof. Futerman and his talk entitled ‘Beauty and the beast: sphingolipids in health and disease

 Professor Tony Futerman

Tony Futerman is a Professor of Biochemistry in the Department of Biomolecular Sciences in the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel, where he studies the roles of sphingolipids in health and disease. His work focuses on the mechanisms of regulation of sphingolipid synthesis, and on how neuronal cell pathological is affected upon accumulation of sphingolipids in LSDs, particularly in neuronal forms of Gaucher disease. He has chaired two Gordon conferences including the first GRC on Lysosomal diseases in 2011.
