24th ESGLD Workshop and Graduate Course

7th to 11th September 2022

SAVE THE DATE!  As you may know it is the turn of the UK to hold the Bi-Annual ESGLD Workshop and Graduate Course. ESGLD Chair, Professor Brian Bigger and his University of Manchester Team are happy to announce that a date has been set for this event which will take place in Lancaster, North West of England. Please hold the 7th to 11th of September 2022 in your diaries!

A very warm welcome to Lancashire

Lancashire and its county city Lancaster offers a tantalising glimpse into a county of contrasting landscapes, with wide, open spaces, diverse heritage and plentiful food and drink, covering 3,075 km2 of England’s North West.

Lancashire By Air

Manchester international Airport is approximately 70 miles from Lancaster University and has excellent international and direct links to many European countries.

From Manchester Airport:

An hourly rail link runs directly between Manchester Airport and Lancaster. Journey time is just over an hour. For train times, visit National Rail Enquiries. On arrival in Lancaster, you can then take a taxi to the University campus.

National Express operate a daily coach service between Manchester Airport and Lancaster Bus Station. For coach times, visit National Express. On arrival in Lancaster, you can then take a taxi to the University campus.

On the last day of the conference, we will provide a coach transfer to Manchester Airport. Departing from the conference venue at 13:30 local time. Estimated time of arrival at Manchester Airport at 15:00 local time. Convenient for delegates catching flights from 17:00 onwards and overnight stays at airport hotels for catching early morning flights.

From other UK airports

If you arrive at another UK airport, you can catch a connecting flight to Manchester.  Coach services are available from some other UK airports to Lancaster, but none of them are rapid options. For coach times from other UK airports, visit National Express.

On arrival in Lancaster, you can then take a taxi to the University campus.

Lancashire By Rail

There are direct rail links between Lancaster and many of the UK’s major cities and airports. For train times, visit National Rail Enquiries. Taxis are available at Lancaster train station for onward journeys.

Lancashire By Road

By coach:

For coach times, visit National Express.

By car:

Leave the M6 motorway at Junction 33 and take the A6 north towards Lancaster. After Galgate village, three junctions with traffic lights on the A6 serve the University. There is a visitor car park at Lancaster University campus, parking charges might apply.
